Vashka is an athletic Russian Arabian whose name means "Prince of Kings." Once, an acupuncturist who met him said that he felt such a dignified presence about Vashka that the man felt as if he should salute the horse!
Vashka loves to keep everything and everyone in order. However, he also adores games -- and of course treats. Ginger Snaps are currently his favorite baked reat, and his favorite herbal blend is Meadow (he likes it mixed in with his soaked hay).
Vashka is an accomplished dressage horse as well as a very competitive trail horse who loves to travel in a a wide-open, "let's-go-like-the-wind" canter. Diagnosed as Insulin Resistant three years ago, he has since proved to many cynics that Insulin Resistance can be very successfully managed through a balanced and low sugar/low carbohydrate nutritional program.
Nutrients and whole foods that have made the biggest impact for him include: Magnesium for muscle spasm and Insulin Resistance, Spriulina for allergies, Sellinium for endurance, extra salt to address dehydration issues, Peppermint for stomach issues during weather changes and Yarrow flowers to decrease any infllammation.
Vashka is The Boss of Everything at Skode's.

Sunny is a beautiful and big-hearted Basque Arabian. To say he is kind and loving is an understatement. He is a horse who avoids tree branches so that the human riding him will not get hurt! He loves to be groomed.
Before he met Skode, Sunny was an award-winning Hunter Jumper who suffered from stress, mysterious lameness issues and excessive use of NSAIDS like Bute. He has since been diagnosed with Cushings and severe Insulin Resistance.
Chastreeberry for the Cushings, herbs for the healing of his stomach (yarrow flowers), and of course a low-sugar/low carbohydrate lifestyle, allow Sunny the uninhibited fun of life on the ranch and pleasure rides through the mountains of Southern Oregon. The whole foods and herbs that have made the biggest difference for Sunny include: Aloe juice to soothe his stomach, Rosehip Tea to give him the Vitamin C he is not able to obatin from fresh grasses, organic Kelp and seaweed vegetables to supply the idodine that feeds his thyroid gland, Vitamin E capsules to provide this critical anti-oxidant that is so readily available in pasture but not cured hays, and pro-biotics to help ensure that he is able to absorb all the nutrients he is getting.
Sunny's favorite trail mix treat is currently Sunny's Smile because of the juicy apple slices and Chamomile Flower Buds. His favorite Herbal Terrain Hay Mixer is the Ocean Blend -- Sunny loves to eat fresh seaweed vegetables and run on the beach!
Sunny is the designated Love Bug to and for everyone at Skode's.

Skode's Horse Treats Inc. dedicates its mission -- "to help all horses everywhere enjoy a low sugar lifestyle," to Vashka and Sunny. Their presence
in our daily lives continually reminds us of how important it is to honor and enjoy the relationships with which we are blessed.
