"Living your dreams is not for the faint of heart," a friend of mine likes to say. "You have to be willing to be a little fearless."
I always feel a bit like panting when she says the part about being "a little fearless."
Living a life I choose -- a life born from my heart's desire -- has taken every bit of courage I have.
You'll never make it, the fear screams. Who do you think you are to think you can make a living doing what you love?

Powerful Woman Living Their Dreams remembers hearing that same fear when the hay supply in her barn dwindled to a single flake of hay: What if you don't make enough money this week to pay for more hay? What if this life with your horses and a ranch of your own just isn't within your reach?
But the fear doesn't have to be about money. For Julie Turner, also profiled in this newsletter, the fear sounded like this: If you start your own horse business it will be just like it was when you ran a non-profit. You will be too busy to have a life.
Whatever obstacles threaten to keep us from our dreams -- be they monetary, psychological, or physical -- deep down we continue to hear our calling.
My conscious journey to seek a life I love began when I quit my job as a reporter at The Miami Herald and struck out on my own as a freelance journalist and entrepreneur. As it is with every woman who ventures toward her own light, she is soon surrounded and supported by even more light. My interviews with Powerful Women Living Their Dreams is my way of sharing with you the light of others.
