Horses evolved to eat small amount of grasses, herbs and minerals constantly throughout the day. I like the variety of the different hay mixers because Lad is on a very restricted diet, and turned out in a dry lot and sand riding ring with no forage capability. I believe grazing behavior affects their performance; horses get bored with the same foods all the time. When you provide them with a variety of different forages to choose from they are much happier and it gives them something to look forward to.
