This is a photo of my cushings Morgan, Scooter ,at his last show when he was 21 years old! He was a Champion Carriage driving horse at every show we competed in. He is going to be 27 on May 6th.

Your cookies have truly made a difference in this horse's life. They give him something to look forward to each day after receiving his medicine. He is back to bowing again for treats, something he hasn't done in many years.......I can never thank you enough for having the insight and the inspiration to make a safe treat for these wonderful beings!

"I am a health food nut. I work hard to eat nutritious foods and I want the same for my horse, Archie. Until we found Skode's Horse Treats there weren't any treats I could give Archie and feel good about. Now, finally, there is! Archie loves his Skode's Horse Treats."

-- Linda Love, Florida

Penny was part of the taste test trial for the Nutty Seed cookies, and she literally ate them up! And when I had fed her the last treat, the barn dog looked longingly at me, so there were some crumbs in the bottom of the bag, and I poured them into my hand, and he lapped them up with a happy grin!

Those of you who are looking at sweet treats for your horses (and barn dogs) may definitely want to give these a try instead of artificially sweetened candies. I bet after these, your horses won't miss those mints at all.

"I am so glad to finally have low NSC treats that my daughter can feed our ponies. Herbie the mini especially loved the Nutty Seed, as does my OTTB - he's not even Cushing's or IR but he preferred the Nutty Seed treat to almost everything else! Thank you, Lori, so much for providing such a much-needed treat! I wish you great success, and am looking forward to trying all the different flavors!"

"My precious and very spoiled American mustang, Ginger, loves all the Skode's treats. She is especially crazy about Harley's Heaven. Each day I brought a different treat to her and she usually sniffs and is picky and only wants her flax cookie but not with Skode's treats. In fact, instead of feeding it to her by hand I place a nice portion in her ground level feed tub and she keeps busy nibbling each and every morsel. I also cut an apple up and sprinkle Skode's treats all over it and that apple becomes an even more delicious magical apple!"

-- Gayle Cohen, Florida

My horses will do anything for Skode's Horse Treats. I use them for training them to do tricks. As you can see it works! Since my miniature horses are predisposed to Insulin Resistance just because of their breed, I am very excited that I can feed a low NSC treat that they actually enjoy. We have tried all six flavors and each one is a hit. Thanks for developing these great treats.

-- Jan Dunn

As a non-Cushings/IR team, my equine friend and I were a part of Lori’s original taste trial for the Nutty Seed cookie. The cookies were such a hit that I purchased a bag for general use since any reduction in sugar and starch for any horse is not a bad thing. We are now very newly diagnosed as both Cushings & IR so these cookies are a godsend! Having created the cookie habit myself, the very least I can do is provide him with an acceptable alternative. Eliminating the carrots is bad enough but if the cookies were to disappear too??!!!

Many, many thanks to Lori for developing, testing, and creating these treats. It is truly a labor of love on her part and we eagerly look forward to new recipes and new flavors.

Whisper is usually a bit picky, but ate these right up. I tested "feeding by hand" versus in their feed buckets and both methods produced the same results. Both horses ate the cookies really fast, didn't pause to "sniff" or "taste test", didn't push them around at all, just gobbled them right up. Also, I made sure to feed your cookies after they came in for dinner & had already finished their feed. So, I know their tummies were happy & they weren't just hungry/excited enough to grab just anything! I think this is a GREAT product & will be very successful.

Dear Lori -- aka -- "Skode"

My horses' good manners have totally gone out the window, they literally attack me for these cookies. I can bake them soft enough to stuff Tamera's pergolide pill in them and she gobbles them right up. I have to soak Tamera's pellets for her because she can no longer chew hay. Because of her teeth and her insulin resistance she hasn't had many treats in the last few years. Well, let me tell you, these soft cookies are a real treat for my old gal.

Here's a photo of my 31 year old Cushing's mare Tamera giving me a kiss for her cookie

Thank you for coming up with these healthy, yummy and low sugar treats for my critters. You are the best !!!!!! Claire -- Claire from Witcheylady Creations & Potions

"When I discovered Skode's Horse Treats, I was absolutely delighted to finally be able to offer my horse owner clients a treat that was actually good for their horses.

I often evaluate and develop diets designed for the horse that is Insulin Resistant, suffering from Cushings Syndrome, is overweight, or at risk for laminitis. And when asked about giving treats, I have had to say that high-sugar treats with grains and sweetened with molasses are dangerous. But, I can now recommend Skode's Horse Treats because they are very low in starches and sugars. And, not only are they perfect for horses who need to reduce their starch and sugars, but they are nutritious for all horses -- providing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals, boosting the health of all horses, even those that can tolerate more sugar. These treats are perfect for any treat-giving occasion and can be part of a nutritious feeding plan. Thank you, Lori, for creating these treats, for a high-quality product, and for filling a very important need in the horse world!"

You have ruined my horse!!!!!  He now will eat nothing but your Minty Rose Brownies for a treat!  Thank you for providing such a fabulous treat for my Insulin Resistant Cookie Monster :)

My horse Dakota is NUTTY for Skode's Baked Nutty Seed Cookies, Actually he LOVES all of Skode's treats. At first, my finicky guy and he is finicky didn't want to eat the trail mixes and the brownies, but now he gets so excited and devours all of Skode's treats. Thank you for making such a great nutritional product. I will no longer buy any other treats for my horse. Dakota's and his mom thanks you for making a product for our "special kids" Thanks again!

"Just wanted you to know, the treats are a super hit!!  My mare loves them... and they smell wonderful.  There is an older fussy pony with Cushings who generally doesn't like anything "different".  And Freckles
comes right over when he sees I have a treat to offer him.

How fun to please these horses who have a liimited diet.  Thank you again.  I know I will be ordering more!"

"I just have to say JP LOVES THE TREATS! Cappy eats them too. I share with her -- how could I not? They are a definite hit! LOW SUGAR and they eat them LIKE CANDY! I only give a bit at a time but they sure are WONDERFUL! I can not thank you enough for the sundry of "snacks." I took them to the Parelli Clinic and everyone was asking about them. Thanks again."

"I am a regular customer of yours and glad I found you! None of my horses are Insulin Resistant or have Cushings -- I feel your treats are just plain better for them!"

"I got the samples the beginning of last week -- what a surprise! Thank you. Katie loves them and that is actually rather surprising because she is not a big fan of hand fed treats. But she dove right into your cookies and eagerly nibbled the crumbles that I picked up from the floor. I think you can take that as a very positive response from a picky horse! They actually smelled so good that I felt like I should have had one with my tea!

"It is apparent that you have an eye for detail and quality. I hope all things are going well for you, Lori and Happy Fall! Thanks again for the sample and my best wishes for much success with the treats. Katie says 'thank you,' too!"

"I am thrilled that Skode's has developed a treat that my ponies love and that is safe to feed them. My mare, Gaslight Chwyrlwynt, has not been this happy to see me in years! I am not surprised the ponies like the treats so well, they smell so good you will want to try one yourself. Thank you Skode's!"

I am the owner of a Retirement Farm for Senior and Special Needs horses.  As a way to spoil them, I like to feed treats, but not the sugary, unhealthy kind.  I started purchasing Skode's Horse Treats several years ago and the horses love every single "flavor" they have tried!  And I love them because they are all natural and made from wholesome ingredients that even I would eat. They contain no sugar or fillers and are laboratory tested.  I have no worries when I offer a Skode's Horse Treat to any of my residents, because I know I am feeding a safe and natural treat that truly is the best out there!

Hi Lori,

I can't begin to tell you how lucky I was (and my horse agrees) to find your Skode's website. My horse had been diagnosed IR and I was searching not only for low sugar treats for him but also for something to mix with his supplements. He is a picky eater and wouldn't clean up his supplements without the sweet feed to mask them. Your cookies and trail mixes did the trick! I've also baked your cookies - very easy to do - and my kitchen smells heavenly. I am tempted to snack on them myself!.
Thank you for being there!

"Lori, I am not kidding about gratitude in the eyes.  Romke is 13 and has been Cushings/ IR since 7.  Once diagnosed I immediately stopped all treats for him -  he is very expressive and has many ways of telling me what he thinks - the look in his eyes when he gets a Skode cookie tells me volumes.  He is so smart, when he wants a treat he starts smacking his lips..."

Hi Lori,

I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am to give my horse, Rockabilly
your treats.  Every time I open a bag I sniff and they are all so fresh
smelling and just beautiful works of art to look at.  Billy loves them too and
the treats you make are the only ones he can eat.  He catastrophically foundered in December, 2007 at age 27 and spent from January to August 2008 in an equine hospital.  He continues to do well at home and he looks forward every night to a couple of cookies or a couple of the Minty Rose Brownies. Thank you for making them and helping horses live a more enjoyable life.

Hi Lori~~just wanted to thank you for the wonderful products and treats...

Ebony Moon wanted to thank you ,too!  She says that your divine Magnesium Supplement
Has made such a difference in my otherwise wonderful horse life... I would get extremely
Irritated with dirt bike and other high pitched noises but since I've been taking your
Magnesium supplement I feel much more relaxed and calm when I encounter such
Irritations :-)  With much gratitude Ebony:

Mr. Moon wanted to thank you, also!

(Me, Mr. Moon - on the far right)

Hi I'm Ebony's Dad and was not ready to look less than Fit on my strolls around the pasture, thanks to the Magnesium Supplement my cresty, fat Neck is now sleek, so I feel good, as I strut my "stuff"...  10-10  me and my family
Hi! I'm Capri, a 10 year old bay North American Sport Pony mare:

               (Me, Capri!)

I moved to SE Texas from northern California in December 2007. The heat and humidity in SE Texas is almost unbearable!  My new mom knew I needed plenty of salt so there's always been loose salt and broken salt blocks available. She also adds iodized table salt to my meals - 1 tablespoon to each meal in the winter and 2 tablespoons to each meal in the summer. But, this summer my mom discovered Skode's Horse Treats Salt Squares. I love them!  They are so crunchy and taste great plus each square adds another half tablespoon of sea salt to my diet. My mom gives me one every night when she comes out at 10:00 pm to make sure all is well. I get thirsty and drink more water overnight than I would normally. She also gives me one when we work hard together. She knows that when she's hot, I'm even hotter!

   (Me, Skipper)

And I'm Skipper, a 25 year old Shetland/Appaloosa pony gelding. I came from the Amish in Pennsylvania to SE Texas in 1998.  I came to live with my current mom in December 2003. I taught her how to have fun driving a pony. We competed a lot together until I started to have problems with my vision. I'm retired now but since I have a thick Shetland pony hair my mom needs to make sure I drink lots of water and sweat well. So, even though I have loose salt and broken salt blocks available and I get salt in my meals, I love getting a crunchy, salty Salt Squares treats every night!  Skode's Horse Treat Salt Squares rock!

This is Glory, a gypsy vanner who has been struggling with immune issues since the birth of her last foal. Glory loves the tasty, crunchy After Care Cookie, and will trot up to greet me to see how many she can talk me out of! I've noticed that not only has she become perkier and spunkier but she is having fewer and fewer "nervous Nellie" gut issues. Glory is doing so well, we have kept her on the After Care Cookie now going on 90 days and it is a formal part of her nutritional plan. Thank you, Skode's!

My horse Dandy and the other horses in my little herd LOVE Skode’s Horse Treats!  Not only are they so tasty, but also so good for them.  I especially love the cookies with a purpose.  They are whole foods packed with wholesome nutrition.  Skode’s Horse Treats allow me to show my horses how much I love and appreciate them AND provide them with healthy nutrition.  They are an integral part of my feeding program now.  But that’s not all.  The customer service is exceptional.  Skode (Lori Yearwood) is extremely knowledgeable.  Whenever I approach her with a question or concern, I get a prompt response.  She truly cares about what’s best for the horses. She goes the extra mile for her human and equine customers.  I trust her because I feel like she cares about my horses like I do!  She offers the products and support I need to feed my horses’ “wild side”!  Thank you!
