This is a photo of my cushings Morgan, Scooter ,at his last show when he was 21 years old! He was a Champion Carriage driving horse at every show we competed in. He is going to be 27 on May 6th.
Your cookies have truly made a difference in this horse's life. They give him something to look forward to each day after receiving his medicine. He is back to bowing again for treats, something he hasn't done in many years.......I can never thank you enough for having the insight and the inspiration to make a safe treat for these wonderful beings!

"I am a health food nut. I work hard to eat nutritious foods and I want the same for my horse, Archie. Until we found Skode's Horse Treats there weren't any treats I could give Archie and feel good about. Now, finally, there is! Archie loves his Skode's Horse Treats."

Penny was part of the taste test trial for the Nutty Seed cookies, and she literally ate them up! And when I had fed her the last treat, the barn dog looked longingly at me, so there were some crumbs in the bottom of the bag, and I poured them into my hand, and he lapped them up with a happy grin!
Those of you who are looking at sweet treats for your horses (and barn dogs) may definitely want to give these a try instead of artificially sweetened candies. I bet after these, your horses won't miss those mints at all.

"I am so glad to finally have low NSC treats that my daughter can feed our ponies. Herbie the mini especially loved the Nutty Seed, as does my OTTB - he's not even Cushing's or IR but he preferred the Nutty Seed treat to almost everything else! Thank you, Lori, so much for providing such a much-needed treat! I wish you great success, and am looking forward to trying all the different flavors!"

"My precious and very spoiled American mustang, Ginger, loves all the Skode's treats. She is especially crazy about Harley's Heaven. Each day I brought a different treat to her and she usually sniffs and is picky and only wants her flax cookie but not with Skode's treats. In fact, instead of feeding it to her by hand I place a nice portion in her ground level feed tub and she keeps busy nibbling each and every morsel. I also cut an apple up and sprinkle Skode's treats all over it and that apple becomes an even more delicious magical apple!"

My horses will do anything for Skode's Horse Treats. I use them for training them to do tricks. As you can see it works! Since my miniature horses are predisposed to Insulin Resistance just because of their breed, I am very excited that I can feed a low NSC treat that they actually enjoy. We have tried all six flavors and each one is a hit. Thanks for developing these great treats.

As a non-Cushings/IR team, my equine friend and I were a part of Lori’s original taste trial for the Nutty Seed cookie. The cookies were such a hit that I purchased a bag for general use since any reduction in sugar and starch for any horse is not a bad thing. We are now very newly diagnosed as both Cushings & IR so these cookies are a godsend! Having created the cookie habit myself, the very least I can do is provide him with an acceptable alternative. Eliminating the carrots is bad enough but if the cookies were to disappear too??!!!
Many, many thanks to Lori for developing, testing, and creating these treats. It is truly a labor of love on her part and we eagerly look forward to new recipes and new flavors.

Whisper is usually a bit picky, but ate these right up. I tested "feeding by hand" versus in their feed buckets and both methods produced the same results. Both horses ate the cookies really fast, didn't pause to "sniff" or "taste test", didn't push them around at all, just gobbled them right up. Also, I made sure to feed your cookies after they came in for dinner & had already finished their feed. So, I know their tummies were happy & they weren't just hungry/excited enough to grab just anything! I think this is a GREAT product & will be very successful.

Dear Lori -- aka -- "Skode"
My horses' good manners have totally gone out the window, they literally attack me for these cookies. I can bake them soft enough to stuff Tamera's pergolide pill in them and she gobbles them right up. I have to soak Tamera's pellets for her because she can no longer chew hay. Because of her teeth and her insulin resistance she hasn't had many treats in the last few years. Well, let me tell you, these soft cookies are a real treat for my old gal.
Here's a photo of my 31 year old Cushing's mare Tamera giving me a kiss for her cookie
Thank you for coming up with these healthy, yummy and low sugar treats for my critters. You are the best !!!!!! Claire -- Claire from Witcheylady Creations & Potions

"When I discovered Skode's Horse Treats, I was absolutely delighted to finally be able to offer my horse owner clients a treat that was actually good for their horses.
I often evaluate and develop diets designed for the horse that is Insulin Resistant, suffering from Cushings Syndrome, is overweight, or at risk for laminitis. And when asked about giving treats, I have had to say that high-sugar treats with grains and sweetened with molasses are dangerous. But, I can now recommend Skode's Horse Treats because they are very low in starches and sugars. And, not only are they perfect for horses who need to reduce their starch and sugars, but they are nutritious fro all horses -- providing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals, boosting the health of all horses, even those that can tolerate more sugar. These treats are perfect for any treat-giving occasion and can be part of a nutritious feeding plan. Thank you, Lori, for creating these treats, for a high-quality product, and for filling a very important need in the horse world!"
