Skode's Horse Treats Inc., was the first specialized low sugar horse treat company in the industry to place Non-Structural Carbohydrate Analysis (simple sugar and starch levels) on its labels.

We know first hand how important it is to know exactly what is going into our horses' bodies.

One of the goals of a balanced, healthy diet, is to help your horse's blood sugar levels to remain in equilibrium. No big peaks or valleys --as these can cause undue stress to everything from your horse's digestive system to his adrenal glands to the very circulation in his feet.

High sugar and high starch foods such as oils, grains and molasses can cause those blood sugar roller coaster rides, especially in horses with metabolic issues.  (The one caveat to this is the Insulin Resistant horse who is in hard work and needs the glycogen levels in his liver replenished with simple carbohydrates after excercise.) Blood sugar ups and downs are measured by what is known as The Glycemic Index. Skode's uses whole foods in carefully measured doses that are known to have low G.I. ratings.
