Is there a suggested serving size for your treats?

No. Skode's Horse Treats are just that -- treats -- and therefore should not be fed as meals. That said, rest assured our cookies, brownies and trail mixes meet and /or exceed the strict dietary standards of the Official Equine Cushigns and Insulin Resistance Group. Backed by many clinical trials and much scientifc research, this 5,000 plus member group has found that Insulin Resistant horses do best when fed free choice or nearly free-choice amounts of low sugar/low carbohydrate forages, along with small amounts of whole foods that do not exceed combined sugar and starch levels of more than 10 percent.

Skode's Horse Treats Inc. adheres to these standards by providing treats that never exceed this 10 percent maximum.

Just use a little restraint (after all, your horse may very well want to eat an entire bag of our treats at once!).

Which of your treats has the lowest combined starch and sugar levels?

Currently, our Original Nutty Seed Cookie ranks in with the lowest sugar and starch level of all our treats. It's Non-Structural Carbohydrate level is a mere 5.4 percent. "The Enchated Flower Blossom" is next. It's NSC is only 5.7 percent.

Are your treats totally safe for Insulin Resistant Horses?

Nothing can be deemed completely safe for all horses. We work very hard to ensure that our treats meet or exceed the guidelines set forth by the Equine Cushings and Insulin Resistance Group (meaning all combined sugar and starch levels fall at or below 10 percent.) However every horse is an individual, with some horses being EXTREMELY sensitive. If you have any concerns, please check with your Equine Nutritionist and/or Veterinarian.

Does Skode's Horse Treats Inc. ship internationally?

No, sorry for any inconvenience but we are not authorized to ship outside of this country.

Do you send free samples?

As an important part of our treat development process, Skode's is continuously sending free samples of new recipes to established clients. We call these our Taste Tester Teams and each recipe is tested by dozens of horses across the country.  We include established customers in these trials and request that you communicate with us about your horse's opinions. However we do not send random samples to people.

What kind of preservatives do you use?

Maybe "preservatives" is the wrong word. We use a very stable and all natural form of Vitamin E and powerful essential oils. These ingredients in themselves are not preservatives. However some very accomplished chefs have known for years that these ingredients carry within them potent anti-oxidants that act as natural preservatives when added to whole foods. Other companies brag about their treats containing no preservatives. We brag about the innovative use of totally natural ingredients and baking methods that help extend the shelf life of your ultra-gourmet treats.

We ship our treats in Priority Mail Flat rate envelopes and boxes. This menas that you are charged for the size of the box and not the weight of the box.  There are three sizes: A flat rate envelope, a regular flat rate box and a large flat rate box.  The more treats you fit into a box, the less you end up paying for shipping.
